Graduating from Bucknell University, Amanda started her professional journey through national service - teaching HS mathematics in Memphis as a 2008 Teach For America corps member. She received a Master’s Degree in Education and later worked as a school administrator, transforming low-performing classrooms into positive environments for all students in a New Orleans PreK-8th grade charter school.
After witnessing the devastating long-term impact of Hurricane Katrina, Amanda joined SBP South Carolina, running the AmeriCorps program (designed to support hurricane-affected homeowners unable to rebuild on their own). The negative physical effects on vulnerable communities post-disaster inspired Amanda to join MedServe, intent to create fellowship experiences that provide communities with consistent and equitable access to high-quality health care. In her free time, Amanda loves spending time on the water (once a collegiate women’s rower), bicycling, and performing in local theater.
